Search & Rescue . . . a necessary resource for outdoor enthusiasts!

There are Search and Rescue units across Idaho state. They provide services in many different capacities, including searching and rescuing lost or injured snowmobilers!  Your support helps these units exist, so please give generously. They could save a friend, loved one or YOU!

Kootenai County groomer program

The groomer program is managed by Kootenai County and the Kootenai County Groomer Board . The groomers are operated by County employees and some well trained volunteers, and typically run at night to have the trails set up before riders roll over it. The machines need a minimum amount of snow before they can operate and often times the trailheads in lower elevations are a challenge reaching the minimums. Kootenai County is in Area 28, and money sold from registrations with that designation go back to the intended location.

February 12, 2017 update:

Groomers are going out Tuesdays and Friday's. They leave from the Bunco , Fernan ,
and 4th of July pass trail heads at approximately 3a.m. and usually groom into early , sometimes late evening. They always go out one way and come back another (make a loop)

Gold Creek Lodge is open near Lakeview off the Bunco trail area, open Thursday thru Sunday  (208-222-7669). It's a great ride from the Fernan area to the lodge and back, please support them anyway you can, they are the only place on our system to buy a burger and refreshments of choice.
